Death Might Be Preferable

Silly Kid With Star Bokeh

You’ll all be happy to know that I took myself right on to the doctor yesterday. Boy, did I ever feel crummy!

So, I have a sinus infection. And an ear infection.

And. I know! What kind of grown-up gets an ear infection?

Well, the kind that lets a sinus infection go too long without treatment.

But, in my defense, I didn’t know I had a sinus infection. I had my same old headache, but no runny nose or congestion to speak of. I wasn’t ignoring it, I swear.

Oh, and I have tonsillitis, too :-) I know. Fun, huh?

All I know about the throat thing is that it’s not strep. So it’s either irritation because of the drainage from my sinuses and ears, or it’s viral. Either way, it’ll clear up with the rest of it, whether due to the medications or the passage of time.

So, I got some antibiotics. And a decongestant. And an expectorant. And some stuff (light-duty painkillers) to help me sleep at night because my throat hurts hurts hurts and it keeps me from napping or sleeping in the night.

I guess I’ll survive. But I feel pretty rotten in the meantime. I can’t force anything down my throat but Jello, small pieces of scrambled eggs, and vanilla ice cream. And really, even that’s pushing it. Everything else burns and makes me almost either cry or gag or both.

On the upside, however, I’ve lost 7 pounds since my dr. visit last Wednesday. That’s nice. Perhaps I should stay sick a bit longer.

Or not.

Oh, and you’ll all be happy to know that I’m posting this from home, where I plan on staying for the entire day.

I hope you feel better soon Alissa, you sound pretty bad off. Take it easy! I am at home with Bridget today, yet another lung problem, I’m thinking bronchiolitis.

My goodness Alissa! Thankfully you were able to get in to see the Dr. Hope you have a speedy recovery. (And good for you for staying home for once!)

Take care of yourself. At least you’re getting it out of the way before Christmas.

Feel better soon. And that’s an order. ;-)

Wow, that’s a lot going on. I hope the medicine works fast and you get to feeling better. Try and relax and get some sleep.

I agree – feel better soon and remember: There is no good bokeh when you’re dead so death isn’t REALLY preferable.

Feel better soon! You know I had the stomach flu when Kai was 3 months old, nursed him the whole time (he didn’t get much)…and lost the rest of my baby weight. It sure sucks, but it is quite the quick weight loss plan. ;)

That picture is just to-die-for cute! I can almost see little devil horns peeking out. ;)

I hope you are feeling better soon and the boys too. I hate cleaning up puke, yuck! I guess you are like me and have a body that likes to aquire childhood diseases. Except I always seem to gain weight while sick.

I’m glad you stayed home and rested and hope it helps you recover fast. I had an ear infection myself just a few months ago, and I’m even more grown-up than you. I get tonsillitis, too. Guess you inherited that tendency from me. Hope the boys are giving you an easy time tonight…

Not a good way to lose weight, is it? Glad you stayed home and rested all day and I hope it helps…

Sorry to hear that you’re sick. Get well soon.

Ouch. I had a sinus infection a month or so back. Not fun. I hope you’re feeling better!

You’d be suprised how many adults still get ear infections. I think most of us don’t say it out loud though. :)

I’m cracking up at the lost 7 pounds comment. Last Thursday, the first day I went out of my house, I had the conversation with a friend that I’d lost 10 pounds, so maybe the plague wasn’t so bad after all.
