Where Has It Gone?

Freedom

I am sitting here at my computer with a list next to me. No surprise, there are lists everywhere around here. I do love my lists! This list, though, is of ideas for blog posts. Right now, there are 7 different ideas on there.

I don’t feel like writing about any of them.

Blah.

I have completely lost all motivation to do anything. It’s not just blogging, either. When I’m at work I want to be anywhere but there. It used to be that, while I didn’t necessarily love every moment that I spent at work, I could at least cheerfully tolerate the hours I spent there. But now, I count the hours from the moment that I arrive until the moment I can leave. It’s torturous.

And then I’m home. And I can just hardly get myself to do anything. I’m keeping up with the laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc… but just barely. I’m just putting in the minimum required effort. I don’t even feel like reading, so much, or watching tv. I’m content to just sit.

I’m still happy to spend an hour or two taking photographs…but then it might take me a day or two or more to get around to putting them on the computer, and even longer to sort through them.

I’m still making lists left and right, but I’m not accomplishing much of what’s on them.

I really need to get back on track. Perhaps one of these days I’ll get up off my duff and actually do something. I don’t know where my motivation has gone–I used to be a pretty driven individual, at least when it came to things I really cared about. Now I’m just kind of lazy. I think alot about things that need to be accomplished, but I don’t seem to ever actually accomplish them. And sometimes, when I am doing things, I feel like I’m just spinning my wheels. Working and working and working but never really getting anywhere.
I’m going to share with you my list of blog topics. Tell me which you’d really care to hear about, OK? Or, if these ideas suck, then give me others.

Written exactly as they are on my list:

  • Jury Duty. I have it this month.
  • My packing list/to do list for the trip to Phoenix. It’s considerable, and detailed. Share.
  • Some movie quotes that I haven’t seen on other blogs- thinking of a guessing game or something.
  • Phoenix trip. Am I more excited or nervous? Arizona very far away. (map)
  • iPod headphones. Recommendations. Don’t like mine.
  • Television in kids’ rooms. Discuss.
  • New photo essay project? Title “Growing Season”…

Now, answer. Is this stuff totally boring, or sort of OK?  Could I do better?  Comment. E-mail me. Motivate me!

Oh, and look! One of my photos was chosen for The Daily Click over at Shutter Sisters! Wow, that’s some talented company I’m in! Yay me!

Call me easy (well, no, don’t say that, I’ll cry) but I want to hear about them all. And it sounds like you just need a vacation. Isn’t it convenient that one is on the way?!

    All of them sound good.

Ironically, when I seem to have lost my will to get up and go, actually accomplishing something almost always gets me jumpstarted. It works even better if it’s something out of the norm, like cleaning out a kitchen cabinet or tackling something that’s been bothering me but I haven’t had time to do. Just do something – simple but powerful, in my experience.

It’s the season, I’m sure of it. I think we all get the Winter blahs. You’ll snap out of it soon and get inspired to write more lists and actually complete them. I like your list above. Let’s start with that. And, I recognized that photo as soon as I saw it on Shutter Sisters. Congrats!

What about talking about your job? Not the gory aspects of it but the agricultural/public health aspects? I bet ya most people don’t really know what you do and it’s importance. I think it’s fascinating of course and maybe there are a couple of interesting stories to share?

Also, I find that lots of people are fascinated with ag, especially animal stuff. Even the little things like mixing some feed, or herding a group of cattle into another field. I don’t think most people have the privelege of doing that sort of stuff, and enjoy reading about it.

Or maybe these are just me? You and I have some very similar interests and educational background.

By the way, my geese have started laying! That means fresh, goose egg omelets!

talk about something that you think would be at the BOTTOM of the interest list. it’s funny what other people find interesting!

And, I’ve just added Shutter Sisters to my daily check.. cool!!! Nice pic :)

Congrats on getting on Shutter Sisters!

As for the rest, I think it is the winter blahs. We need warm breezes and sunny skies, which you will get soon enough in Phoenix! I have been going through the same things, too, here’s a
(((hug))). Those blog posts sound good, so get to it! :)

I agree that it’s winter blahs. I have a serious case myself. It’s only the fact that I have 4 people coming for Easter dinner on Sunday that is kick-starting me into cleaning the pigsty that is my house these days.

I like Sara’s idea for posting. I’m interested in that too.

I’m thinking it’s the winter blahs, I’ve got them too!

I’m up for any of those topics. But can’t wait to hear your thoughts on a television in the kids’ room!

  9. 2008 March 18

None of it’s boring to me. Cause it’s your life not mine and mine is completely boring, but your isn’t. :)

I’d say talk about any of those.

Girl, you need a vacation. I’m glad you’re getting one soon.

  10. 2008 March 18

Sounds like a vacation is just the right thing for you! This is that time of year when nothing seems right and nothing seems like it’s every going to change. Just wait for the birds, the whiff of spring. You’ll get there. And in the meantime, just mope. Mope for all it’s worth. I believe in feeling the feelings.

And I absolutely adore that picture. It says so much by so little.

It turns out Arizona IS NOT that far away. I flew over the Grand Canyon on Monday – but of course I was on the wrong side of the plane. When I fly back tomorrow maybe I will get a shot. I am in Las Vegas right now – and Arizona is only an hour or two from here. An hour or two. Piece of cake. Of course you are in Kentucky so maybe that does not work. On the other hand, it only took about three hours to fly here from Illinois and Illinois and Kentucky are like neighbors so it is about same time for you to get to Arizona as it would take me right now sitting in Vegas. So shoot – you are practically there.

I am done now – except to suggest delaying TV for the boys.

I agree–you need a vacation and change of scenery, and you’re definitely going to get it! Good topics for the blog. Start with the television one–I’ve got LOTS to say about that!!

  13. 2008 March 18

Wow..that first part of your post, I could easily copy and paste it into my blog and call it my own! lol!! Definitely winter blahs, I tend to get them every year. I think you’re vacation will be a great mood lifter and a much needed break from all the regular day to day stuff.

Love your topics list, also like Sara’s idea about your work. Please don’t skip the ipod headphones topic..I need new ones too! lol!!

    Congrats on the pic….very nice!!

Could it be spring fever? I’d enjoy reading about packing lists and trip ideas. I’m always looking for a better way! (and I always love your photos)
