Blog Business, and, Announcing a Big Birthday Bash Blogging Break

Yes, it’s that time of year again, and I must take a day or two off turn myself into a giant, stressed out bundle of nerves for the boys’ Big Birthday Bash on Saturday. You are coming, right? Please?
At any rate, before I sign off for a few days, I have a few things to announce/address, and then I’m outta here.
1. I mailed my postcards out on Monday afternoon, so probably really on Tuesday. So keep an eye out! And, I received my first postcard yesterday! Yay! Ronnica sent us a postcard from the campus of her college
As predicted, the boys were thrilled. It’s hanging on our fridge as I type.
2. A very nice lady named Sara contacted me the other day about the Fresh Air Fund. It’s a program designed to give “free summer vacations to New York City children from disadvantaged communities”. Definitely a worthwhile charity, in my opinion. Apparently they are in need of host families for August. While I can’t help (school starts at the beginning of August around here, and I don’t have the space, anyway) maybe you or someone you know can. If there’s something you can do, please visit their website and get in contact with them. And, if you have any experience with this program, please share. Because this sounds like something I’d like to do someday, when we’ve moved further into the country.
3. My boys’ birthdays are next week (I guess that’s pretty obvious, since it’s party time and all!) and I want to do a post special for each of them. I thought I might do it in the form of an interview. You can help me by suggesting some interview questions…things you’d like to know about the kids. They do love to contribute to the blog, and I think it’ll be fun, but I’m not really sure what to post. Help me!
OK, so, that’s it. I’ll see you later, perhaps on Sunday or possibly Monday. Unless, of course, you’re at the party, then I’ll be seeing you on Saturday!

The Fresh Air Fund sounds interesting. As for questions:
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What’s your favorite vacation you’ve been on and why?
If you were a super hero, what would be your super powers?
How would you like to make the world a better place?
Re: doing an interview on the boys for their birthdays…I was just coming up with a list of my own last night on our way home from the lake. I thought I’d ask each one the same questions and then I’d ask the same ones next year and so on to see how their answers change.
That sounds like a great program! Good luck on the party preps…I’m sure it will turn out fabulously.
I got my postcard things in the mail the other day, so now I just have to print my picture. Hopefully I will be able to do that tonight.
I’m a slacker. I didn’t even get a postcard yet. But I did buy postcard stamps.
Happy birthday to the boys. I hope it’s a great party.
I’m glad they enjoyed it! I actually had that postcard sitting around cuz I was going to mail it to a friend 3 years ago…
Good luck with the party. I can’t wait to hear all about it and see your pictures. Try to take a little time just to sit and enjoy the party!
I never got an invitation to the party. I’m incredibly offended. I’m not sure if I’ll ever forgive you or not.
I haven’t got my postcard yet. Ummm, it’s good to have them trickle in slowly so the joy lasts longer, right???
Can’t wait to hear what your boys have to say! You could even just it totally up to them, and say “tell me about yourself” and type as they dictate! I bet it’d be fun to follow their train of thought. Not to mention, it’d be easy for you.
Good luck with the party! Can’t wait to get my postcard!
Happy birthday boys!! They are so cute! Or are they to old to be called cute?
Have fun with the party!
Happy birthday, guys! You just get cuter every year!
Questions? I have nothing coming to mind at the moment. I just love to hear them ramble.
But if I think of something later, I’ll come back!
aw, what a fun summer photo!
have an excellent weekend and enjoy the b-day bash boys!
Have a fun party, guys! Wish I could be there….but Michigan is a loooong ways from Kentucky!
Happy birthdays!!!
Kendra
We missed the postcard blog entry. AM bummed. Can we still participate? Lemme know if so. We want to send something your way.
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICK AND DREW!
Also, questions to ask them….
What was their favorite thing about their vacation this past spring? What are their favorite books?
Whoops. I’m logged in as “Rebecca” but its really me, Lisa (from MM)
have a really great time – and my question to the boys, the classic, what do you want to be when you grow up?
what a great idea by the way, i’m going to copy it!
I got my card yesterday.
It got a little wet, as DH and Dylan took a ride down to the mailbox on the lawn tractor and it started pouring halfway back up the hill.
Hope to get mine out before we leave for Disney.
One of my neighbors did the Fresh Air Kids program when her son was young. It gave her son someone to play with. A few years she took in a girl which gave her the daughter she didn’t have.
Favorite things–to do, song, t.v. program, movie, sport, place, holiday, etc. Good idea to keep a copy and repeat yearly. They will be fascinated by how they change from year to year. Measure them with a piece of string and keep that with the interview to compare with the next year. It’s a good way to visualize the growth they don’t see every day…
